RISKY ONLINE HABITS THAT COULD LAND YOU IN TROUBLE
It’s the obvious, that most overlooked habits tend to make us regret at later stages. With the current internet age it’s important to be careful and cautious when using the internet so as to avoid cyber-attack. Well there are so many regrettable habits that should be regulated if not gotten rid of.
Many people think that having their antivirus protects them 100%.Well this is not the case as the antivirus only protects you from threats. There are other risks that you put yourself while browsing that can easily break down your system.
Many people secure their accounts with passwords that can easily be guessed such as ABCD and 1234.Secure your accounts with passwords that are not cannot be easily guessed. Many at times a password should be at least with eight characters that can be easily memorized.
Other people prefer to repeat the same password for several accounts without knowing the risk. Once someone is able to access your password your other accounts can be easily accessed with ease. It’s therefore safer to have different passwords for different accounts. Have unique characters so as to help you memorize them easily.
Many people while using the internet/social media platforms disclose to much information about themselves. Too much information such as family members, hobbies and favorite things about yourself makes it easy for scammers to easily attack you.
Sharing devices with friends makes you vulnerable as you share personal information unwillingly. Avoid sharing of personal items such as laptops and phones so as to avoid sharing of personal information as not all people can be trusted as much as they may seem friendly.
Some people trust too much easily on the internet as they make many friends from the internet especially the dating sites. Many people use this platform so as to access private information so as to easily access you. Do not easily trust people you meet on the online platforms .Not all people seem to be who they are!
Many organizations offer Wi-Fi services to their customers and to the public as a whole. Either secured or public access the Wi-Fi should not be trusted at all cost. Hackers easily access your information when you are using public Wi-Fi .While using public Wi-Fi, ensure you are connected to a virtual private network (VPN) so as not to let your information easily accessible. Also avoid accessing your sensitive information such as bank accounts as they can be easily tampered with.
Avoid giving your location as most of the internet services always ask you to give your location. This easily helps scammers to easily locate you.
It’s safe to have proper online habits so as to avoid later regrets that cannot be reversed.
